If you're a Web site developer, you can now include the latest OutlookPower Magazine news headlines and article titles on your site. This will ad value to your site by showing your support for OutlookPower Magazine, and providing the latest information to your site's visitors. We do this by making available special "stub" files that you can incorporate into your Web site. Any time our publication is updated, these stub files are updated as well, so you can have the very latest information at all times. Syndication formats We provide a number of different formats, depending on your preferences, including Netscape RDF Site Summary format, XML, JavaScript, HTML, and plain text. If you'd like to include right in the middle of your Web page, the easiest approach is probably to use the JavaScript include files. If you're familiar with syndication formats or XML, the RDF format or the XML format is probably right for you. And if you'd just like to grab an HTML or text stub file, those are available as well. JavaScript client-side includes Most modern browsers support JavaScript. Because of this, you can usually use a JavaScript client-side include on your Web page. As your page is loaded, a small script embedded in the page's HTML is run. It then loads a small script running on our servers that contains our news and headline information. It's pretty simple to do. At the location where you want the information to be displayed, type the tag <SCRIPT SRC="xxx"></SCRIPT>. Just replace xxx with one of the options below: News channel (HTML formatted): http://www.outlookpower.com/shares/javascript/news-html.js News channel (plain text): http://www.outlookpower.com/shares/javascript/news-html.js How-Tos channel (HTML formatted): http://www.outlookpower.com/shares/javascript/articles-html.js How-Tos channel (plain text): http://www.outlookpower.com/shares/javascript/articles-html.js Both channels (HTML formatted): http://www.outlookpower.com/shares/javascript/channeldata-html.js Both channels (plain text): http://www.outlookpowercom/shares/javascript/channeldata-html.js So, for example, let's say you wanted to include the full formatted HTML for both channels. You'd put type the following into your Web page's HTML: <SCRIPT LANGUAGE="JavaScript" SRC="http://www.outlookpower.com/shares/javascript/channeldata-html.js"></SCRIPT> Netscape RDF Site Summary format If you're using technology that's compatible with Netscape's RDF format (somewhat deprecated), you can use OutlookPower Magazine's syndicated RDF data. There are two available OutlookPower Magazine RDF channels: news and articles (how-tos). Our HTML syndication files are created without HTML wrapper information (i.e., the normal page starting and ending HTML tags) so that you can easily include our HTML stubs into your Web site's HTML (you can even include this information in tables).
