OUTLOOKPOWER SITE OF THE MONTH
Nothing says new year better than emails from crazy people
By Joe Dolittle

People are crazy. No one denies that fact. Not all people are crazy, but enough people are crazy that they have a large diagnostic tome on the topic, the DSM-IV. The DSM-IV (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) is what psychologists and psychiatrists use to assign a particular type of crazy to a particular category, often for insurance-billing purposes.

But you don't have to be a shrink to diagnose crazy. All you have to do is read email. One of our favorite sites for kicking off the new year (and wasting a tremendous amount of otherwise productive time) is Emails From Crazy People at http://emailsfromcrazypeople.com.

The sight has hundreds of messages posted by presumably less crazy people about emails from what one would guess are the more nutso members of our citizenry. One of my favorites is a long rant entitled, "Devil Worship and Christmas Lights" posted by user "White Coat". Some of the more amusing lines include:

My Gargoyle basically looks like a puppy with wings. Does this frighten you? I can only imagine you screaming in fear when the Snuggles fabric softener bear is speaking to you through your evil television set.

The woman at 138 has a saddle and stirrups decorating her mailbox. What is that all about? I, for one, am not a cowboy, do not like cowboys and find it horrifying how the cowboys treated the Indians and Tom Landry. That guy was the only coach they ever had. Once they fired him, he died. Was that fair? I find cowboys to be highly offensive.

As for the flashes of light in the sky, that's lightning, you idiot. Have you noticed at about the same time the wicked sky lights are flashing, there are evil drops of liquid falling from the sky?

And that's just one of many. If you have time to waste, or are just crazy, point your browser to this week's OutlookPower Site of the Month. Oh, and I checked. This is officially both the first use of the phrase "devil worship" and the first use of the phrase "Christmas lights" in OutlookPower. 2010 is already off to a good start, don't you think?
