Since I also have Bluetooth, it would be ideal to use my Stowaway keyboard with my phone and other devices. Typing a short response on full-size keys works for me, especially since I type with my toes. Even better, I can leave the phone on my lap or a table rather than having the phone on the floor straining to read the screen.

For those wanting a hands-free (or feet-free) alternative, the Jott service lets you leave a voice message for a particular person, which is transcribed and delivered to his or her email. A copy of the audio is also attached in case the transcription is not 100% accurate. Again, a great solution if the person is in your contacts list (and you don't have a speech impairment like me).

If I start traveling more or find a good deal on a BlackBerry or Windows Mobile phone with a data plan, I could be tempted to change my cheap, I mean frugal, ways. Until then, I'll be "flipping" emails from my beach chair once a year.
