Because Outlook is configured on each computer to leave the messages on the server once downloaded for a maximum of 3 days, other computers have the same access to the message for the same time period before the messages are deleted from the server.

What this does is allows each computer with a copy of Outlook installed to download each message once, allowing you to have all of your email messages present on each computer. After 3 days, the messages will be deleted from the server.

I have found that this Outlook technique is very handy in keeping a copy of all email messages available on each computer that I use on which Outlook is installed.

It eliminates the need to have to forward messages or physically move between computers to search which computer has the email message and information I am searching for. I hope this article proves helpful in using Outlook and makes your use of this product more enjoyable.

One final note: this works great for downloaded email, but the mail you send will be different on the different machines. You could modify an outgoing rule to automatically cc you on all email you send. Doing this will force your outgoing messages to also be downloaded to all your machines.
