Where Outlook hides its secret stuff (continued)
Stuff might not be what it seems Now that you know how to unhide files and folders, let's show you where all the secret stuff is stashed. There are a few things you should know before we continue. First, I'm going to use a notation like this:
drive:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
|
The notation "drive:" means the drive letter you use for your Documents and Settings. The notation "<user>" is your user name. So, for example, on my machine, when I see the sequence above, I'd think:
C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
|
The next disclaimer is that files might not always be where we say. For example, my PST files are in their own directory, on a different drive. I tweaked this for my machine. To learn how, read "How to combine PST files" at http://www.outlookpower.com/issues/issue200608/00001822001.html.
And, finally, not all files may exist. Depending on what you're running and your configuration, some files might not exist.
Where the secret stuff hides If you've stayed with me this long, it's time for your reward. Here's a nice table showing where everything's hiding:
