OUTLOOKPOWER ANSWER TEAM
Once again, why won't my reminders show up?
By Francine Otterson
Reader Van Murray asks a very common question.: how can you get reminders to pop-up when they're not in the expected reminder folders? We have a short, sweet, and easy answer, but first, let's let Van share his question with you in his own words.
I have a tough question for you. Here's my situation.
We have a very common situation: CEO and Assistant. The assistant manages everything about the CEO's schedule (adds/edits appointments etc.). She also has her own personal calendar, mail, tasks and notes.
Most important issues have been solved. The CEO wants to read his own mail, calendar, notes and tasks at his convenience. We have Exchange/Outlook 2003 with BlackBerry Enterprise Server. In order to get the BlackBerry operating correctly (to sync wirelessly), each account has to be separate (CEO and Assistant).
Assistant now has access to shared CEO calendar, contacts, tasks, notes. Everything is going smooth (CEO receives updated information via laptop, BlackBerry and Web mail). Smooth until CEO is in the office "disconnected" waiting for the assistant to notify him of next appointment.
Assistant does not recieve reminders for upcoming appointments in the CEO shared calendar. I understand the concept, but surely someone else is in my situation, but it does not seem so.
I need to figure out how to get the CEO's calendar reminders to "pop-up" while the assistant is logged in to her account (which she is all day).
See what you think.
Van, Outlook reminders are a useful function in Outlook but do not work with other folders or additional mailboxes as you've experienced. It's not a feature built into Outlook.
Fortunately, Ken Slovak has written a great, little add-on that solves the problem. Just visit http://www.slovaktech.com, pay Ken a few bucks, and you're well on your way.
